St Antonios Charitable Society

St Antonios Charitable society currently provides its services in 5 countries (Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait and Iraq) through one diocese and 9 governorates.

St Antonios Charitable Society is a nonprofit organization registered in Palestine and established in June 2025 to serve as the social and development arm of the church in the middle East.

The society has a leading role in the diaconal services of the poor, underprivileged and marginalized communities in the middle East and provide a wide range of diaconal services to the different communities in the different countries where the Jerusalem Bishopry works.

In 2024, the organization (prior to its registration) was working with the different geographical areas under Bishop Antonio’s direct ministry and was able to serve more than 1,000 people across 25 communities.

St Antonio’s Charitable society is the "Social and development arm" of the Coptic orthodox church in Jerusalem and the middle East and works to improve the quality of life of church members who are actively part of the Jerusalem Coptic Orthodox Diocese;

    Health and Wellbeing

    St Antonios Charitable society works with the Coptic Bishopry in the Middle East offers a range of health and wellbeing initiatives aimed at supporting the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of its members. These programs are grounded in Christian values of compassion, service, and community care. Key projects include:

    • 1. Medical Outreach and Clinics – The Bishopry partners with health organizations that work in the target areas in mobile and stationary medical clinics providing free or low-cost consultations, medication, and basic treatments, especially for underserved communities.
    • 2. Mental Health and spiritual Support – Recognizing the importance of mental wellbeing, the Church offers counseling services, spiritual support groups, and educational workshops addressing issues such as anxiety etc.
    • 3. Health Educational Campaigns – The organization conducts through professionals in the field regular seminars and health awareness sessions on topics like nutrition, disease prevention, addiction recovery, and healthy lifestyles.
    • 4. Elderly and Special Needs Care – Tailored programs support elderly members and individuals with disabilities through home visits, caregiver support, and access to medical equipment.
    • 5. Youth Wellness Initiatives – Focused on the younger generation, these initiatives promote physical activity, mental resilience, and spiritual growth through retreats, sports activities, and personal development workshops.

    Education

    In collaboration with the Coptic Bishopry, St. Antonios Charitable Society leads a range of educational initiatives aimed at empowering members of the Coptic community across the Middle East. These efforts focus on increasing access to quality education through:

    • Tuition Assistance: Providing financial support for students attending universities, colleges, and schools to ease the burden of educational expenses.
    • Scholarship Programs: Offering merit-based and need-based scholarships to outstanding students within the community.
    • School Sponsorships: Supporting the operation and development of its owned schools in underserved such as East Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
    • Tutoring and Academic Support: Organizing supplementary classes and tutoring sessions to help students excel academically.
    • Educational Workshops: Hosting seminars, career guidance programs, and skill-building workshops for youth and young adults.

    Economic Empowerment

    St. Antonios Charitable Society, in collaboration with the Coptic Orthodox Bishopry in the Middle East, lead a series of impactful economic empowerment initiatives aimed at uplifting individuals and families across the Middle East. These programs focus on equipping community and church members with practical tools to achieve financial independence and long-term stability. Key initiatives include:

    • Skills Development Programs: Offering vocational training, technical workshops, and professional certifications in fields such as digital literacy to enhance employability (among many other skills).
    • Job Creation and Placement: Partnering with local businesses and organizations to facilitate employment opportunities, as well as supporting small business startups through microloans and mentorship.
    • Entrepreneurship Support: Providing resources and coaching to help individuals launch and manage sustainable small enterprises, especially in underserved communities.
    • Youth Empowerment: Running targeted programs for young adults focused on career guidance, internship placements, and soft skills training to prepare them for the labor market.

    Social Assistance

    In close cooperation with the Coptic Bishopric, St. Antonios Charitable Society leads a range of humanitarian and social assistance initiatives to support vulnerable individuals and families across the Middle East. These programs are designed to address urgent needs and promote dignity, stability, and well-being among community members. Key initiatives include:

    • Food Distribution: Regular provision of essential food items to families facing food insecurity, ensuring basic nutritional needs are met.
    • Utility Support: Financial assistance for electricity, water, and heating bills to help households maintain access to critical services.
    • Medical Insurance Coverage: Facilitation of basic health insurance and coverage of medical expenses for the sick, elderly, and those with chronic conditions.
    • Cash Assistance: Direct financial support to cover basic living costs such as rent, clothing, and education.
